The Farmers Youth Union has appointed Dr. Mai El Darawy, Chairwoman of the Lavander Life Group, as Chair of the Central Women’s Committee, as part of the Union’s strategy to benefit from national expertise in supporting rural women and strengthening their role in agricultural and productive development.
Dr. Mai El Darawy’s appointment reflects her extensive experience in the agricultural sector. Known as the “Lady of Lavender,” she founded Lavander Life Farms, a specialized agricultural project dedicated to cultivating aromatic and medicinal plants. She has also developed an integrated business model that begins with lavender cultivation, continues through manufacturing, and extends to export, transforming the plant into a wide range of value-added products that compete in both local and international markets.
Dr. El Darawy owns a group of companies and manufacturing facilities operating across the fields of agriculture, industry, trade, and export. Through these ventures, she contributes to supporting Egyptian products, promoting agricultural manufacturing, expanding access to international markets, while advancing sustainability practices and integrating scientific research with investment and production.
As Chair of the Central Women’s Committee, Dr. El Darawy will lead initiatives aimed at empowering rural women, supporting small businesses, and strengthening women’s participation in the agricultural sector, contributing to sustainable development.
The Farmers Youth Union is one of Egypt’s leading organizations supporting the agricultural sector.
