In a time when many dreams stumble under the weight of responsibilities and challenges, the story of Dr. Mai El-Darawy – known as “Ms.lavender ” – stands as a living testament to unbreakable willpower.
After ending an 11-year marriage and experiencing the loss of several close family members, Dr. Mai did not succumb to pain. Instead, she turned it into fuel for a remarkable journey of personal and professional growth.
As a mother of two, Dr. Mai shares every detail of life, education, and work with her children. She didn’t stop at being a devoted mother, but also continued her career as an academic advisor in several Egyptian and Saudi universities, while managing her role as a businesswoman – striking a balance between professionalism and parenting, between ambition and emotional warmth.
She turned her home into a space of hope, nurturing in her children a love for creativity and innovation, making them seeds of a new generation that knows no limits.
But Dr. Mai’s journey did not stop at overcoming personal challenges. She made a name for herself in the fields of agriculture, industry, and trade through her group of companies, Lavender Life for Export, which achieved a significant breakthrough in both the local and international markets. Despite her success, she never lost sight of her higher goal: to build innovative future generations.
Recognizing her children’s potential for excellence and innovation, she decided to create an environment that empowers them to build their own “empire.” She adopted their science project, Eco Lava, which aims to convert car exhaust emissions (carbon dioxide and other pollutants) into clean, lavender-scented oxygen using filters that rely on plants as natural purifiers. The project won second place in an international competition with 139 participating projects.

In a move reflecting early business awareness, the team also launched a commercial project named Y2 Lavander, offering healthy, sugar-free meals for children and using lavender as a natural element for coloring and scent. This project aims to financially support Eco Lava, forming a distinguished model of youth-led social entrepreneurship.
The children gained notable recognition from the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) under the Egyptian Cabinet, being regarded as the first young entrepreneurs to be officially acknowledged and welcomed with appreciation.
They received significant support from MSMEDA, under the leadership of:
• Mr. Basel Rahmy – CEO of MSMEDA
• Dr. Raafat Abbas – Deputy CEO
• Mr. Mohamed Medhat – Deputy CEO
• Mr. Mohamed Osama Bakry – Head of Central Financing Sector
• Ms. Amani Hanafy – Head of Central Policy and Legislation Sector
• Dr. Moataz Foda – Director of Monitoring, Impact Assessment & Statistical Analysis
• Dr. Samar Mosallam – Director of Joint Financing Department at MSMEDA
They were also supported by constructive educational guidance at their school, led by:
• Ms. Amal El-Adawy – Principal of Futures School, Shorouk Branch
And backed by a team of supportive educators:
• Faten Mahmoud – Senior Academic Advisor for Music
• Amr Abdel Moneim – Music Teacher
• Dalia Mostafa – Head of Art Department
• Salma Mohamed – Art Teacher
• Ms. Fatma Essam – Project Manager
This harmony between home and community enabled Dr. Mai to steer her children’s energy toward growth and ensure that every moment of their time was invested in preparing them for a better tomorrow.
The story of Ms.Lavender is not just about the success of a woman — it is a powerful message that when willpower is paired with love and faith, miracles can be made.
